Blackened Green Beans

  • 1 Pound-Green Beans-stem end removed
  • To Drizzle-Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons-Blackened Seasoning
  • 1 Teaspoon-Garlic Powder


  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add a large pinch of salt.
  2. Fill a large bowl with ice water.
  3. Add green beans and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Combine blackened seasoning with garlic powder.
  5. Preheat iron skillet over medium high heat.
  6. Drain beans and place into ice water to stop cooking, drain again once cool.
  7. Line a baking tray with a clean kitchen towel and place beans on towel.
  8. Cover with an additional towel and gently press to dry.
  9. Place beans in a bowl, drizzle with enough oil to coat and toss to coat with seasoning.
  10. Place beans in hot iron skillet and cook until slightly charred, stirring frequently.
  11. Cook until softened and charred, about 5 minutes.
  12. Serve as a side item or as a snack with a sour cream or yogurt to dip.
